By Emmanuel Oladele - The Nigeria National U-17 football team are on the verge of elimination from the WAFU U-17 tourney currently taking place in Togo.
After a 1-0 defeat to Cote D'Ivoire in their opening game, the Golden Eaglets on Saturday failed to beat their Ghanaian counterparts in their second game, the game ended 1-1. Though not a bad result for the Eaglets but will have to wait for the game between Cote D'Ivoire and Ghana to know if they will make it to the semi-final.
A win for Cote D'Ivoire will be an advantage for the Golden Eaglets, but a draw will see Ghana and Cote D'Ivoire making it to the Semi-final and the Fatai Amoo led side will be eliminated.
The Eaglets are already following the trend of their senior counterparts, the Flying Eagles (Nigeria U-20) which were also eliminated just like the way the Eaglets are already going.
Elimination for the Nigeria U-17 means they will not take part in the next AFCON U-17, as the ongoing tournament serves as qualifier for the next AFCON U-17.
