The reason why the league may not start on January 16 as proposed, is that, the Nigeria National League (NNL) Annual General Assembly (AGA) comes up on Friday 15th of January in Abakaliki, Ebonyi State, the date is also the same day the draw for the new season will hold.
The NNL's Chief Operating Officer (COO), Emmanuel Adesanya revealed that the Annual General Assembly in Abakaliki will enable major stakeholders of the league to deliberate on some important issues and decisions will be taken as they prepare for the NNL new season.
Recall that the NNL was put on hold since December 2019 and never witnessed any action in 2020 due unresolved issues and the Coronavirus Pandemic.
It's expected that another date will be chosen for NNL kickoff after the AGA.
