Orlando Pirates and Masandawana win away in CAF

By Dumisani Baloyi - Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns who are unbeaten this season began their CAF inter club journey as they look to make it back to powerhouse in African football. Mamelodi Sundowns are in the CAF Champions League while Orlando Pirates are in the CAF Confederations Cup. 

Mamelodi Sundowns were hosted by Botswanan side Jwaneng Galaxy FC and an early goal from Mthobi Mvala put Sundowns in the lead, moments after half time Peter Shalulile made it 2-0 following a costly error by the goalkeeper with his two defenders.

Orlando Pirates beat Angolan top-flight side Grupo Desportivo Sagrada Esperanca through a goal a Thembinkosi Lorch strike in the 74th minute. Jean-Marc Makusu Mundele made a debut for Orlando Pirates after joining in on loan from Congo giants AS Vita Club and he laid an assist to the goalscorer.

Tomorrow, Kaizer Chiefs host Angolan giants 1° Premeioro de Agosto in a CAF Champions League group stage qualifiers, while Bloemfontein Celtic host Nigerian outfit Rivers United in the CAF Confederations Cup.
