Nigerian Striker Scores Fourth Goal in the German Bundesliga

By Olamide Oyetunji - Liverpool loanee Taiwo Awoniyi is living up to expectation in the German bundesliga season with his form for Union Berlin.

Nigerian attacker Taiwo Awoniyi was on the scorer sheet in Union Berlin’s 2-1 home win over Borrusia Dortmund on Friday night.

The 23-year-old forward scored the opening goal on 57 minutes for the hosts from a setplay against the run of play.

Taiwo Awoniyi was quick enough to finish off a corner kick, knocking a header past Dortmund’s goalkeeper Andreas Luthe from about two yards out.

Just three minutes later, the rampaging Borrusia Dortmund leveled up with 16-year-old Youssoufa Moukoko entering the record books as the youngest Bundesliga scorer ever when he snatched an equaliser by beating the goalkeeper through the near post for the visitors on the hour mark.

Center-back Marvin Friedrich then had the final say for Union Berlin from a similar corner-kick situation, grabbing the winner with a beautiful glancing header on 78 minutes.

Awoniyi who is a former Nigeria U-17, U-20 and U-23 player has now scored four goals in his last six appearances.

Union Berlin are currently 5th on the provisional German Bundesliga table with 21 points as it was reported few days ago that Awoniyi is seeking permanent exit from Liverpool after seven loan stints.
