CAF CL: Simba Beat Plateau United in Jos With Rohr in Attendance

By Olamide Oyetunji - The CAF Champions League commenced in Africa with the best teams on the continent battling it out for top honour and Nigeria Professional Football League teams were not left out.

Plateau United took to the pitch at the New Jos Road Stadium to welcome Simba SC Football Club from Tanzania in the first leg of the preliminary round.

Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr was a special guest alongside newly appointed Technical Director of the Nigeria Football Federation Augustine Eguavoen not forgetting former Flying Eagles gaffer Paul Aigbogun.

Clatous Chama scored the lone goal after Luis Miquissone's shot was spilled by Adamu Abubakar to the path of the striker in the 53rd minute.

It was a disappointing result for Gernot Rohr and the Nigeria Football Federation delegates that went to the stadium to scout for talents.

The Super Eagles Africa Cup of Nations qualifying results against Sierra Leone few weeks ago has sparked some pressure for the removal of Gernot Rohr.

It is expected that the Franco-German will visit more stadiums to identity players that can represent the country with the Home-Based and the main team.
