By Emmanuel Oladele - Many may have observed Petr Cech's influence in some of the decisions made at Chelsea recently, the former Czech professional footballer who spent most his footballing career at Chelsea as a Goalkeeper truly has a new role at Stamford Bridge.
The 38-year-old currently work as technical and performance advisor for Chelsea. He was perceived to be the man behind Kepa Arrizabalaga's stay at Stamford after the Spanish goalkeeper shaky performances at Chelsea.
The Blues are close to announce Rennes goalkeeper Edouard Mendy as their latest signing after the Senegalese completed his medical earlier this week. Chelsea manager Frank Lampard has revealed that Petr Cech was influential in the imminent deal of the 28-year-old.
Lampard said, "Petr was important in that because goalkeeper is a very particular position."
"Petr Cech was the best in the world in that position for a long time so he's obviously had a big say in this situation."

"From my point of view, I lean heavily on him when it comes to goalkeeping today and in the future. So yes, he was very influential."
