Former Arsenal Goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez kept a clean sheet, saved a penalty in Premier League Monday Night Football

By Emmanuel Oladele - Former Arsenal Goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez was quick to justify his move to Aston Villa on Monday night as he kept a clean sheet and saved a penalty in his debut game for Dean Smith led side against Sheffield United.

The 28-year-old saved John Lundstram's penalty in the 36th minute of the first half and also kept a clean sheet that aid Aston Villa 1-0 win over Sheffield United, thanks to Ezri Konsa header in the 63rd minute of the Game.

Aston Villa boss Dean Smith has also showered praise on the Argentine, He didn't have an awful lot to do."

"His distribution is really good. He's calm, assured. He's got a really good personality."

"To keep a clean sheet and to save a penalty in your first game... I've not seen it back, it looked harsh at the time."

"He's had to go and make a good save and he's done that," Dean Smith concluded.

Emiliano Martinez joined Aston Villa from Arsenal recently for £20m.
