Doctor Khumalo - This thing of players moving to Europe after a great season should stop
By Sephano Barbosa - Kaizer Chiefs and Bafana Bafana legend Doctor Khumalo speaks to Sky Football Magazine about his thoughts on South African players going abroad.
"For me, if you play well at your club and get the coach's attention you will be in the Bafana squad, you don't need to go to Europe and become a bench warmer."
"I understand that money is too much that side, but football is all about what you love, and let's play in our country and our league, there's no need to go to Europe or Asia."
"For us it's much better because we have players with ambitions of playing for the likes Chiefs and Pirates which is a great thing for local football."
"I went abroad myself and for players to be recognized in Europe for being best Africans baffles me. The colonizers are working with corrupt Africans here, that's why CAF cannot change it's mandate and award rightfully deserving candidates for CAF awards, AFCON awards are given at the end of the tournament, there's no award ceremony In a certain venue."
"We should look at best players players in our league and continent. And we should sell our players in Africa. They are busy bringing their own academies and other people are happy about it."
