By Edikan Akpan - English side Leeds United are reportedly closing in on Bundesliga Freiburg defender Robin Koch – but could face competition from local English rival. Phil Hay of [The Athletic] reports that Leeds are on the verge of agreeing a £13m (€14.5m) fee for Robin.
German press Kicker publication acknowledges Leeds’ interest but adds that other Premier League clubs are in for Koch.
Newcastle are specifically mentioned and ‘at least’ one other English club are said to be in the race.
Also London side Tottenham have been linked with the talented 24-year-old in recent months.
However, Italian side Lazio are not in the running for Koch, their sporting director has confirmed.
“There are currently no discussions [for Koch],” Lazio sporting director Igli Tare told Kicker on Friday.
Koch will feature for national team duty with Germany on Monday.
