Opinion: Daniel Akpeyi, the Favoured One

By Oladele Emmanuel - The thought of many about Nigeria Super Eagles and Kaizer Chiefs Goalkeeper Daniel Akpeyi is that he should not be relevant by now for both National Team and Club, but "in life man proposes but God disposes."
Though Akpeyi could have committed some blunders in both club and national team football, in some cases his error or errors have even cost his teams either at the national or club level.

But, there is something about him, if Akpeyi falls today, tomorrow he will rise stronger. At a point he was so much criticised in ABSA Premiership because of the blunders he has committed, recently he has proved his critics wrong by putting up a superb performance for Kaizer in the suspended 2019/2020 season, most especially, he was phenomena in the last Soweto Derby, God with him, he was the reason why the Amabhakabhaka lost the game, as Amakhosi defeated them by 1-0, thanks to Manyama's goal.

In that game Akpeyi made about four fantastic saves or more that should have given the day to Orlando Pirates. The Nigerian was also named the man of the match in the encounter.

The favour on the Daniel in the bible also seems to be upon him, he was never consumed in his challenges. With the way things are going for him, one can say the favour of God is involved.

After the last AFCON, many thought Akpeyi is done with the Nigeria National team, but his superb form for his club Kaizer Chief earned him another call-up.

One peculiar thing about the favoured ones is, when they fall, they will always come back stronger.
