Liverpool on Wednesday in the UEFA Champions League were walking but alone as they were unable to give their fans something to cheer on the night.
The Reds usual slogan is 'Never Walk Alone'. The Reds were defeated in the all important return leg fixture with Atletico Madrid, a game that should have sent them into the quarter-finals, but were unable to absorbed the pressure coming from Determined Atletico Madrid side who organised a send-off party for Liverpool and their fan with a 3-2 thrashing on the night as the Reds bowed out on 4-2 aggregate.
Things were going in the way of Liverpool with Georginio Wijnaldum 43rd minute strike which helped Liverpool to bring the scoreline to 1-1 on aggregate, moreover, Roberto Firmino early strike in the extra time should have been enough for the Reds to go through, but resolute Atletico Madrid side responded with three goals in the space of 30 minutes to kill the night for Liverpool and also makes them to walk alone at Anfield.
Marcos LIorente brace in the 97' and 105+1' respectively, with Alvaro Morata 120+1' strike were enough to take Atletico to the quarter-finals. Moreover, Saul Niguel lone goal in the first leg was also an added advantage for the Spanish side.
At the end of the entire game time, Liverpool were walking alone and Atletico Madrid with 4-2 on Aggregate scoreline were dancing to the quarter-finals of the UEFA Champions League.
