The Mail understood that both Manchester United and Sporting Lisbon have held talks recently for a possible deal for the Portuguese who is said to be close to a move away from Sporting Lisbon. The Portuguese giants want a fee around £64m for their attacking midfielder but Manchester United are still hoping to pay below the Sporting's asking price.

Fernandes has been a top target for Manchester United in recent time and will do everything to land the player to Old Trafford before the close of January Transfer window.
