Asisat Oshoala Nominated For CAF Award

Super Falcons skipper Asisat Oshoala has been shortlisted as one of the last five as the battle for glory intensifies.

Oshoala has been shortlisted for the Africa Women's Footballer of the Year award for this current calendar year alongside four other women from other countries.

Best African female goalkeeper, Chiamaka Nnadozie couldn't progress to the last five after making the top 10 alongside the firing American based Uchenna Kanu is also dropped from the final five.

Oshoala who has won this award three times will hope to further expand her trophy cabinet as she will be gunning for a record-equaling fourth award which is currently held by Super Falcons legend Perpetual Nkwocha.
Also in the shortlist are Gabrielle Ouguene and Ajara Nchout of Cameroon, South African star and current holder Thembi Kgatlana and Tabitha Chawinga of Malawi.

Recall that in the year, Asisat Oshoala helped Barcelona Femení to finish as runners-up in the UEFA Women's Champions League as she also score once for the Nigeria Senior Women's team at the FIFA Women's World Cup.

 “The shortlist of nominees was decided upon by votes from a Caf Technical & Development Committee and a panel of media experts with emphasis on the nominees’ performance of during the year under review, 2019,” Caf announced via its website.

“The final phase of voting for the men’s and women’s African Player of the Year, as well as the male and female Coach of the Year, will be selected by head coaches/technical directors and captains of senior national teams from Caf Member Associations."

The winner of each category will be announced at the Caf Awards ceremony taking place at the Albatros Citadel Sahl Hasheesh, Hurghada, Egypt on January 7, 2020.
