Zambia U-23 national team on Tuesday evening lost to Nigeria 3-1 as a team at the Egypt 2019 Africa Cup of Nations played at Cairo’s Al Salaam Stadium, but on individual level Red Bull Salzburg striker Patson Daka was voted as the most outstanding player of the game and was awarded with the man of the match award.
The former Kafue Celtic, Nchanga Rangers and Power Dynamos striker was almost on target within five minutes but instead collided with his striking partner Fashion Sakala and sustained a head injury and played the rest of the game with the head-band.
Despite that early injury Patson opened the scoreline in the 12th minute and continued to give the Nigerian defence nightmares but unfortunately, the West Africans came back from a goal down to a 3-1 win.
Zambia are now bottom of Group B with just a point. They will meet Ivory Coast on Friday in a must win encounter and pray for South Africa to beat Nigeria on their behalf.
