Fireman 'Sodiq Adeyemi' Claims 10th Position at Abeokuta 10KM JAC Marathon, Ready to Cruise the Tracks For Federal Fire Service

An officer of the Federal Fire Service, Sodiq Adeyemi ran a highly commendable race to finish tenth in the Abeokuta 10 KM JAC Marathon.

The Abeokuta Marathon hosted athletes in their numbers from all walks of life put their physical fitness to test in achieving a common goal on Saturday.
Sodiq Adeyemi who is in his twenties exhibits four fireman qualities ; Courage to participate, Patience to remain on course, Discipline to obey the long distance race rules and extreme Physical Fitness to complete the course.
'Babatunde' an academic product of the 'highly technical' Moshood Abiola Polytechnic joined the Federal Fire Service this year and trained at Fire Fire Service training school, Surulere Lagos alongside reputation national athletes like Seun Benjamin (Africa Youths Championship medalist), Taiwo and Kehinde Fagboro of the Karate Federation of Nigeria, Adewale Aliu who's a professional Goalkeeper and host of others.

"Unfortunately, we were not the first nor the last, I was among the top 10 out of 3000plus.

There was no crime in trying ...just fun filled. JAC. 10km marathon race Abeokuta"

A delighted Sodiq Adeyemi posted about his reputable feat on Facebook.

Speaking to Nigfooty.com, Adeyemi shared his thoughts about his performance.

"Well, I had first in mind but unfortunately, I didn't make it and it weigh me down a bit. But then i got some hope back seeing my self amidst top 10, then i was happy that i indeed endure to the end, because many fainted  and some exited to their various homes without crossing the finishing line while others came at a later hour."

However, the slim and gentle looking officer isn't shy of future opportunities to represent the Federal Fire Service in Sports.
"Well, if it has to do with marathon race, and there is an opportunity for that, i will."

"Meanwhile, athletes from 18 countries took part in the race tagged “JAC Motors Abeokuta 10KM Marathon Race 2019.”

Kemboi went home with $5,000 overall prize in the male category, while an Ethiopian, Tadu Nare who crossed the finish line in 33 minutes and 43 seconds clinched $5,000 overall prize in the female category prize.
Two Ethiopians Rotich John and Alemneh Tegene came second and third in the male category after completing the race in 29 minutes and four seconds, and 30 minutes and sixteen seconds respectively.

For the indigenous athletes, Emmanuel Gyang won N1,000,000 first prize in the male category and fourth overall, having crossed the finish line in 31 minutes and one seconds.

Nigeria’s Fadekemi Olude went home with N1,000,000 first prize for the female category completing the race in 37 minutes and 29 seconds.
