2021 AFCON Qualifiers: Nigeria beat Benin Republic in Uyo

The Super Eagles of Nigeria on Wednesday outclassed their Benin Republic counterparts in 2021 AFCON qualifying match in Uyo, 2-1 it ended in favour of Nigeria.

Goals from Victor Osinhen and Samuel Kalu were what the three times African Champions needed to go top of group L.

Benin got the first goal of the encounter in the opening 5 minutes via Stephane Sessegnon who capitalised on a sloppy defending by the Eagles, to give the Squirrels a 1-0 lead.

Towards the end of the first 45 minutes, Ola Aina was brought down in Benin's 18-yard box, the penalty awarded to Nigeria was converted by Victor Osimhen to restore parity for the Super Eagles.
n the 70th minute of the encounter, Samuel Kalu dribbled pass three Benin defenders and put the ball into the net from a close range to give Nigeria a well deserved victory on Wednesday night.

The Super Eagles dominated the game from the start till end, but their fellow West Africans played defensively to avoid conceding so much goals from the talented and attack minded Nigeria side.

After the entire game time, it Nigeria 2-1 Benin Republic, so it ended at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo, Nigeria.
