Super Eagles Manager Gernot Rohr has blamed the inactive Nigeria Professional Football League as the reason for playing German -based new Nigerian harvest, Maduka Okoye ahead of seasoned national team veteran Ikechukwu Ezenwa in the recent friendly match against Brazil which ended 1-1.
The crucial goalkeeping moment in the high profile encounter was when Francis Uzoho got laid -off after a duel with Casemiro from a Brazilian corner-kick which led to the Maduka Okoye being called upon ahead of the former Enyimba goalkeeper.
“We decided to put in Maduka because Ezenwa didn't play for months, not even in the CHAN team."
“He (Ezenwa) didn't have any experience of competition in the last 3 months so we decided to play Maduka because he was playing for his club.”
