The newly refurbished Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin City may be the host venue for the AFCON 2021 qualifier between Nigeria and Benin Republic.
Nigeria will play against Benin Republic on November 11 as they begin their AFCON 2021 qualifiers campaign.
The Stephen Keshi Stadium in Asaba had hosted Super Eagles matches in recent time but concerns over the state of the pitch has forced Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) into a search for an alternative venue.
With Nigeria bidding to host the FIFA Women’s U20 World Cup, the Stephen Keshi Stadium may undergo renovation.
“We are ready to host Super Eagles matches anytime. The Ogbemudia Stadium is now back to shape and don’t forget, Benin used to be Super Eagles number one home in the past, so this won’t be anything special,” an official of Edo State Football Association told CompleteSports on Tuesday.
After the Squirrels clash, Eagles next AFCON qualifier will be away to Lesotho in Maseru on November 19.
