Out-of-favour Super Eagles striker Kelechi Iheanacho was on song on Tuesday as Leicester City defeated Burton Albion 3-1 inside the Pirelli Stadium Princess Way.
Kelechi Iheanacho who has found playing time very hard this term under Coach Brendan Rodgers was named in the starting eleven by the former Liverpool manager who was coming off an emphatic 9-0 victory over Southampton in the Premier League over the weekend.
Iheanacho opened the scoring after seven minutes, finishing from close range following a fine move. Leicester carved through Burton, with Demarai Gray dribbling past two or three defenders before finding Tielemans out wide on the left with a lovely pass.
Tielemans hit a low, first-time cross into the box where Iheanacho beat goalkeeper Kieran O’Hara from six yards out.
Further goals from Youri Tielemans and James Maddison saw the Foxes progress as Burton did pull a goal back through Liam Boyce early in the second half.
It is two goals in two League Cup games for Kelechi Iheanacho this season as it could be recalled that the former Manchester City poacher scored in the 4-0 win over Luton Town earlier in the season.
