Golden Eaglets next opponent,Ecuador were up to the task after bagging all three points available in their World Cup opener against Australia on Saturday.
Two goals inside the first ten minutes of the match were enough to see Ecuador past Australia 2-1 in Group B action at the FIFA U-17 World Cup Brazil 2019™.
Both scores took favourable deflections for the Ecuadorians, with the second counting as an own goal against Australia defender Anton Mlinaric. But Noah Botic's 90th-minute strike revitalised the Joeys, who applied pressure until the final whistle.
The South Americans will now switch focus to their next encounter on Tuesday where they will slug it out with Nigeria for a place in the Round of 16.
