Deputy Gaffer to Super Eagles Head Coach, Gernot Rohr, and suspended Coach of the U-23 Dream Team, Salisu Yusuf is back to the team after serving his suspension from September 2018 to September 2019.
Coach Yusuf was in 2017 accused of taking bribe of $1,000 from a football agent for him to influence CHAN team selection and in 2018, he was found guilty by the Disciplinary Committee set up by the Nigeria Football Federation. He was fined $5,000 and slammed with a 1-year ban from all footballing activities.
After serving his one-year ban, the NFF announced that he's back to his job. He'll take over the U-23 coaching role from Imama Amapakabo who qualified the team for the U-23 AFCON by beating both Libya (4-2 aggregate) and Sudan (5-1 aggregate).
The Federation however, thanked Coach Imama Amapakabo for his sterling efforts while in charge of the U23 National Team in the absence of the suspended Yusuf, and for eventually seeing to the team’s qualification for the U23 AFCON.
