Rohr Raise Alarm Over Poor Playing Surfaces In Nigeria, Call On Minister For Immediate Intervention

Gernot Rohr, Super Eagles manager, has revealed one of the greatest problems affecting the Nigeria national team.

The Franco-German football tactician told Nigerian journalist Osasu Obayiuwana, in an interview in Bourdeux , France, that the Eagles don’t have excellent pitches to use as home ground and he does not understand why a country naturally endowed as Nigeria cannot boast of at most one quality football pitch.

“One of my biggest problems for the Super Eagles is that we don’t have a single quality pitch, in the whole of Nigeria, for my team to play matches on. This is not acceptable for a country of Nigeria’s level.”

“I am hoping that Sunday Dare, Nigeria’s new Sports Minister, will ensure that the main pitch and practice pitches of the Abuja National Stadium will be restored, as soon as possible. This will help my team a lot.”

“You saw the quality of pitches that the Super Eagles played on, at the AFCON2019 . This should be the standard for Nigeria. The pitches we currently play on, in Nigeria, are not good enough.”

“I also know that Lagos is the home of football in Nigeria and we should be able to play there as well. I hope the Minister can help us by ensuring that we have good pitches to practice and play on, in Lagos.” Rohr Concluded.
