The Super Eagles of Nigeria on Sunday night were defeated by the Desert Foxes of Algeria in the Semifinal of the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt.
Own goal from Nigeria Troost Ekong and final minute freekick from Manchester City forward Ryad Mahrez earned the Algerians a well deserved victory in the thrilling encounter at the Cairo International Stadium. Odion Ighalo restored parity to the Super Eagles in the second half from the spot, following VAR review of an handball by Algerian defender Aïssa Mandi, but was not enough to stop Nigeria defeat.
The Super Eagles defence was shaky in the encounter, with both goalkeeper and defenders not coordinated.
After the entire game time, it Algeria 2-1 Nigeria, so it ended at the Cairo International Stadium in Egypt.
