FIFA WWC: France 1-0 Nigeria; Falcons Humiliated by FIFA New Rule

Super Falcons of Nigeria completed their preliminary journey of the FIFA Women's World Cup with a defeat to hosts France on Monday night inside a packed Rennes Stadium.
A controversial 80th minute penalty by towering defender Wendie Renard was the difference between the European and the African champions.
The key moment of the match was when Ngozi Ebere brought down a French attacker in the penalty area, a penalty was given after Video Assistance Referee consultation which led to a second yellow for the defender and an automatic sending off.
Renard stepped up from six yards and misses but Chiamaka Nnadozie was yellow carded for stepping out of the line before the kick(New FIFA rule) and Penalty was retaken and converted.

France had to labour against a resolute and resilient Nigeria side to grab their third win of the tournament. A late lifeline was handed their way, with Wendie Renard slotting home a penalty at the second attempt following a re-take.
Else where, Norway defeated Korea 2-1 to seal a second automatic qualification slot.

Nigeria must now rely on other results to go their way if they're to reach the next round.
