The Flying Eagles of Nigeria on Thursday night played a 1-1 draw with Ukraine U20 side at the ongoing FIFA U20 World Cup in Poland to secure a place in the round of 16 of the competition.
Danylo Sikan's header put Ukraine ahead in the 30th minute of the first half courtesy of a superb cross from Oleksii Kashchuk.
Muhamed Tijani had the opportunity to level the game for the Flying Eagles in the added minute of the first half via a spot kick, but a superb save from Ukraine goalkeeper A. Lunin denied the Nigerian, to end the first half 1-0 in favour of the Europeans.
In the 50th minute of the game, a hand ball from Denys Popov earned Nigeria another spot kick, but this time around was well taken and converted by same Muhamed Tijani who missed the first penalty.
Nigeria finished third in group B behind Ukraine and USA who are in the first and second position respectively, and have qualified for the round of 16 as one of the four third placed teams.
After 90 minutes, it Ukraine 1-1 Nigeria, so it ended at the Stadion Miejski Stadium in Bielsko-Biala in Poland.
