AFCON 2019: KELECHI IHEANACHO SHOCKING INVITATION IN FIGURES

Many have said unprintable things concerning the shortlisting of Kelechi Iheanacho in the provisional squad for Egypt 2019.
I remember in 2014, the same lips mocking him were asking for his promotion into the Super Eagles team under late Coach Stephen Okechukwu Keshi to replace a 'bashed' John Obi Mikel.

Today, it is his turn!

It is never a doubt that the boy is a shadow of his true self but life is full of ups and downs and Ighalo's rejuvenation in the set-up is a food for thought.

It will only take one goal to re-energize the youngster again just like it happened to the 'threatened' Odion Jude Ighalo.

We may not be satisfied with his inclusion but he is not the worst Nigerian in the Premier League going by number of appearances(34) compared to a certain Leon Balogun with Brighton and Hove Albion.

Some people went below the belt repeatedly mentioning Kelechi's Dad calling him 'a greedy man' because of the Manchester City choice forgetting that every parent want the best for their children.

In fact, his decision to start at the blue side of Manchester remains the best of the Golden Eaglets set of 2013 judging by their young football journeys.

His decline in form could be associate to several factors like Money,Girls/Women(Flesh),Focus,Commitment, Dedication,Distraction,Diet,Team System(Leicester City playing style)and most importantly 'Confidence'.
When Gernot Rohr came into the fold to remold a featherless team, Kelechi Iheanacho who was also new gave him his first set of victories with goals(versus Tanzania,Zambia) until the defeat against South Africa which prompted the return of Odion Ighalo but he was still making things happen until 2018.

Super Eagles Scorers Under Gernot Rohr

Odion Ighalo-8goals

Kelechi Iheanacho-7goals

Ahmed Musa-6goals

Alex Iwobi-5goals

Victor Moses-5goals

John Obi Mikel-2goals

Moses Simon-2goals

Henry Onyekuru

Brian Idowu-1goal

William Troost-Ekong-1goal

Chidozie Awaziem-1goal

Simy Nwankwo-1goal

Samuel Kalu-1goal

Paul Onuachu-1goal

The stats above shows that Kelechi Iheanacho is the second Super Eagles top scorer under Coach Gernot Rohr which therefore underlines his relevance in the Super Eagles team that doesn't have so many clinical finishers, set piece experts and left footed attackers.
