England Punished Nigeria for Sloppy First Half Display

The Nigeria Super Eagles were on Saturday punished for their lackadaisical display in the first half of England versus Nigeria International Friendly. The Eagles were not in the game in the first half as they lack possession of ball in the midfield and a shaky defence.

The poor display of Joel Obi and Ogenyi Onazi in the midfield was largely responsible for Eagles lack of possession as their areas were not properly covered.
John Obi Mikel also took a lot of time before he could find his rhythm in the game. Abdullahi Shehu did not also provide enough cover for his wing as Ashley Young proved difficult for him to handle.

The England National side took advantage of Nigeria floppy play in the first half as they got their first goal from a corner kick as Chelsea man Cahill provides a great header to give England the lead in the 7th minute of the encounter.

37th minute of the encounter also gave England the second goal, thanks to a powerful shot from Harry Kane that was deflected home by Francis Uzoho the Nigeria Goalkeeper.

The inclusion of Ogenekharo Etebo, John Ogu, Kenneth Omeruo and Ebuei quickly provided some tenacity and energy that lead to Nigeria first goal.

Alex Iwobi raised Nigerians hope in the 47th minute after Ighalo shot on target hit the wood work and bounced back to Iwobi who fired the shot back into the net of the Three Lions.

The question is, will Onazi and Joel Obi make the final 23? Let just wait and see.

After 90 minutes, England 2-1 Nigeria, so it ended in an International friendly at Wembley Stadium.
