The federation of Cameroon Football (FECAFOOT) has listed former Super Eagles gaffer Samson Siasia among the 77 coaches shortlisted for the Indomitable Lions coaching job.
Cameroon are in a hunt for a new coach after Hugo Broos left the post following his failure to help the Indomitable Lions book a place in Russia 2018 World Cup.
According to a report on Cameroon-info.net, Siasia will contend with the likes of former Indomitable Lions captain, Rigobert Song; one-time Super Eagles coach Philippe Troussier, and
ex- France coach, Raymond Domenech, former Germany captain, Lothar Mathaus, and former handler of the side Pierre Lechantre. for the top national football team coaching jobs.
Djomo Kelvin, head of the committee responsible for finding the new coach told Cameroon-info.net that “We have already started work. There are criteria to be respected and the files will be sifted two or three times before considering the shortlist.”
Siasia has enjoyed tremendous success with the Nigeria U-20 team, taking them to a second place finish in the FIFA U-20 World cup in 2005.
He also achieved great feat with the Nigeria U-23 Olympic teams leading the team to claim a silver medal at Beijing Olympic in 2008 and also a bronze medal at Rio 2016.
Siasia also managed the Super Eagles as head coach in 2010 and also on an interim basis in 2016.
