Nigeria Allianz Arena wins Best Stadium at National Sports Summit Award

Godswill Akpabio International Stadium formerly Akwa Ibom International Stadium has earned Akwa Ibom the award for the State with the Best Sport Infrastructure in Nigeria at the National Sports Summit Award. The award was presented to Akwa Ibom State in at a Special ceremony in Abuja.

In attendance at the award ceremony endorsed by the Ministry of Youth and Sport is Director for Planning and Strategy Mrs Hauwa Kulu-Akinyemi who was representing the Honourable Minister of Sports and Youth Development, Solomon Dalung. Charles Udoh, the Honourable Commissioner for Information for Akwa Ibom State received the award on behalf of the State Government in Abuja.

Moreover, Akwa Ibom State also won the Diamond Award for the most Comprehensive Sports Development Programme in support of Nigeria Youths and also the state with the most patriotic and inspirational sports supporters for the year 2017.

Godswill Akpabio International Stadium serves as the home of the Nigerian Super Eagles as well as center for different social and cultural activities in Nigeria. It is a 30,000 seated ultra modern multipurpose sports complex constructed by Julius Berger between 2012 to 2014.
