At the end of the opening round of matches of qualifiers for Cameroon 2019,the Confederations of African Football (CAF) drew up the team of matchday one.

Defenders : John Boye (Ghana)- Raimi Bensebaini (Algeria) - Ali Maloul (Tunisia).
Midfielders : Naby Keita (Guinea-Conakry)- Paulin Voavy (Madagascar)- Cédric Bakambu (Congo) - Bertrand Traoré (Burkina-Faso).
Attackers : Knowledge Musona (Zimbabwe)- Seydou Doumbia (Côte d’Ivoire)- Moussa Sow (Sénégal).
Knowledge Musona was inspiring to Zimbabwe's 3-0 Victory over Liberia, Doumbia made the team as a result of his brace against Naby Keita's impressive Guinea who shocked the Ivorians in Abidjan while Bertrand Traore, John Boye and Moussa Sow were on target for their respective countries. Surprisingly, no South African Player in the lineup.
