Its was a clash of warriors today at the Akure Township Stadium in Ondo State as Sunshine Queens reordered their first win of the season at home against determined Ibom Angels. The match started with great expectations knowing the pedigrees of both sides, it was Sunshine Queens that turned rejoicing in the first twelve minutes of the encounter courtesy of goal from Winifred Eyebhoria.
In the 33rd minute, it was the turn of Ibom Angels to celebrate as Glory Ogbonna got the equaliser for Whyte Ogbonda side. One minute later, Patricia Innocent restored Sunshine Queens lead in the 33rd minute with a powerful shot to give Matthew Wemimo side the deserved victory. It ended 2-1 for the first 45 minutes.
In the 2nd half of the encounter, Ogbonda girls were more lively than they did in the first half as they made things difficult for their host. Ibom Angels were unlucky in the added minute as three of their efforts could not yield a single goal. It was a good and difficult game for both side.
After the match Ibom Angels coach Whyte Ogbonda told Nigeria Football and Others Correspondent that "It was a good game from both sides considering the fact that both teams started preparation late, barely three weeks ago, with time things will work out better."
