Former Super Eagles forward Yakubu Aiyegbeni could return to the English game according to the latest speculations.
League One strugglers Coventry are hoping that Yakubu’s appetite for goals is still as strong as ever.
Manager Russell Slade, who revealed on Friday that a player with a ‘big reputation’ was due to report to Coventry’s training ground on Monday, is understood to have invited the former Everton striker to the club - where he is set to undergo a fitness assessment with a view to offering him a short-term deal until the end of the season.
Sources close to the Nigerian international say the 34-year-old is looking to resurrect his playing career after returning to the UK from a year in the Turkish Super League with Kayserispor and he played his last professional for the club in 2016.
Yakubu played for Blackburn Rovers, Middlesbrough, Portsmouth and Recently Reading and he was able to bang over 100goals in the English game.
