Ifeanyi Ubah left it late to claim slim victory

Cameroonian international Tamen Medrano scored an 87th minute to give continental debutants FC Ifeanyi Ubah a slim first leg victory over Al Masry SC of Egypt in the preliminary round of Caf Confederations cup in Nnewi on Sunday.


The match started with fast tempo as the home team struggled in attack with misplaced key passes.
Prince Aggrey drew the first save out of the Egyptian goalkeeper in the 16th minute with a brilliant header.
Once again Abdelhalim was the only one keeping the score the same as he made a double save denying both Aggreh & Osanga after the half hour.
Ezenwa made Save to Deny Ahmed Abdulraaof keeping the scores at bay in injury time of half time.
The home side started the second half just like the first as Elu bends a freekick that narrowly misses the mark in the 52nd minute.
Nwabili nice drive was saved by Abdelhalim in the 67th minute to the frustration of the fans as the home team will count themselves lucky when Ahmed Gomaa's header glances narrowly off Ezenwa's left post a minute later.
Aggreh's shot went inches high and off target right with 13minutes left but the winning goal finally came through the Man of the Match Tamen Medrano who slotted home after a beautiful pass from the left flank by Isaac Loute.
The second leg will take place in a forth night.
