Zambian referee Janny Sikazwe has won the race to be the centre man for the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations final.
Sikazwe will for the first time take the highest honour in African football refereeing after he had only managed a fourth official spot in the final at the last Africa Cup of Nations tournamennt.
The 38 year old in December was the referee of the final match at the club World Cup when Real Madrid beat Yokohama Marinos.
He shook off a strong challenge from South African referee Daniel Bennett who will be the fourth official and his compatriot Zakhele Siwele the reserve assistant referee for the clash to decide the 2017 edition.
Egypt will play Cameroon in the final of the 2017 Gabon Africa Cup of Nations on Sunday 5th February.
