Gervinho Out of Afcon 2017

Ivory Coast captain and Winger Gervais Lombe Yao Kouassi, better known as Gervinho has had a successful surgery on ruptured cruciate ligaments but will be out of action for up to six months on the sidelines and will miss the African Nations Cup finals.

Gervinho was hurt in training with his Chinese club Hebei Fortune in October but only underwent surgery in Paris last week.
“The operation was successful but his recovery will be between four to six months which means he is out of the Nations Cup,” said a Ivorian Football federation statement.
The Ivory Coast will be defending their title at the tournament in Gabon in January with New Generation of Players.
