The Super falcons will come up against debutants, Kenya, Ghana (eternal rivals), and Mali. And I did ask, in part one, these questions:
"Will it happen? Can The Super Falcons make it a double-figure of titles at Africa's biggest women football showpiece?
" Will it be a cakewalk? Or will the challenge from Ghana, South Africa, and Cameroon overpower the Super Falcons?
Firstly, it must be noted that Nigeria have always emerged victorious at the AWCON except when hosted by Equatori Guinea. In 2008 and 2012, when the Super Falcons failed to conquer Africa, Equatorial Guinea were the hosts and also the eventual winners of both editions. With players like Jade Boho and Genoveva Anouma, Equatorial Guinea were no pushovers and till today remains a force to reckon with in African women football despite their failure to qualify for Cameroon 2016.
Truth is Equatorial Guinea would have been Nigeria's first game had they not fielded an ineligible player in their 3-2 aggregate win over Mali. This foul play paved the way forthe Malian girls.
