Super Eagles vice captain, Ahmed Musa finally scores his first Premier League goal for the Champions of England, Leicester city.
The 24 year old former Juth of jos and Kano pillars striker opens the scoring in the 42nd minutes of the first half at the king power stadiium.
Mahrez was involved ten minutes before half-time when Leicester almost took the lead, the Algerian’s shot taking a deflection off Okazaki’s head and arcing over the bar.
But the breakthrough came in the 42 minute, after Musa’s first goal since his £15million move from CSKA Moscow. It owed much to record signing Islam Slimani, with the striker’s strength creating space on the edge of the area for Musa who drove his shot into the corner.
Musa arguably needed this goal, for his introduction to English football has been far from easy, following a lengthy pursuit by Leicester’s recruitment team.
With Palace continuing to threaten sporadically, the second goal was always going to prove crucial. Okazaki provided it in the 63 minute, with a clinical low finish after Damien Delaney had cut out Danny Drinkwater’s cross.
Palace attempted to respond, with Kasper Schmeichel saving brilliantly from Yohan Cabaye while Danny Simpson cleared another towering Benteke header off the line.
Vardy was introduced for the final quarter of an hour but the third goal came from an unlikely source, Fuchs crashing in an unstoppable half-volley from 22 yards.
Cabaye did slide home a consolation with five minutes left, much to the annoyance of Schmeichel, but this felt like a return to the norm for Ranieri.
